Aurora Impact Foundation is a women-led initiative dedicated to advancing women’s leadership, rights, and access to justice through education, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration.

Our Mission: To strengthen women’s leadership and accelerate equity by supporting pathways to justice, opportunity, and systemic change — locally and globally.
We exist to help close the gap between the values we speak about publicly and the systems we build in practice — ensuring that women and girls are not only included, but meaningfully represented in leadership, governance, and decision-making spaces.

Aurora was founded from both lived experience and long-standing advocacy in women’s rights and leadership. We are guided by human rights principles and aligned with global efforts to advance gender equality — including those reflected in UN initiatives and international policy conversations. Our mission is to help ensure that women-led leadership is not only welcomed in theory, but represented in practice.

Aurora Impact Foundation was established in 2025 through the generosity of our Founder & her private company, Insight Global. The Foundation is an independent organization, and its policies, operations, and program decisions are determined by the Board of Directors and Leadership team.
Meet Founder & CEO Rev. Shannon Smadella
Aurora Impact Foundation was founded by Rev. Shannon L. Smadella (BMSc, MBA) — an award-winning social entrepreneur, executive leader, and long-time women’s rights advocate. Shannon’s work spans corporate strategy, nonprofit governance, global advocacy, and leadership development, with over two decades of experience supporting organizations across sectors to lead ethically and create lasting impact.
